Andrew became ill when he was 18 months old. He was admitted to the hospital with a high fever and low blood counts. When the hospital could find no cause, they sent Andrew to the Mayo Clinic. They discovered right away that he had ALL (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia). He began chemo the very next day. In August, Andrew had a chemotherapy burn around his port because the needle came out when the Vincristine was injected. See photo below:

In March and April of 2005, Andrew had two staph infections in his port line, so it was removed and a new one was placed in May. Since then, Andrew has gone through the summer and fall feeling relatively well. He visits the Mayo Clinic monthly for treatment.
