Band Bio
"I play blues," says Meantooth
Grin guitarist Tom Jordan.
"Loud, hard, and over driven!"
Most
people associate blues music with the Chicago style and guys like
B.B. King; but the Mississippi blues men played something totally
different before electric blues existed. It was brutal and
fierce songs about prison, alcohol, God, the devil, and hardships
most people can't fathom.
Meantooth
Grin's music has a lot in common with the likes of those early blues
men -- guys like Bukka White, Blind Willie Johnson, and T-Model
Ford. But Meantooth borrows heavily from modern music like ZZ
Top as well.
The
band's debut album, Before the Devil Knows You're Dead,
was released in October by KAM Records, which calls Meantooth
Grin "one of the most exciting and innovative bands we have worked
with."
Just as
Muddy Waters took the blues he heard while growing up in Mississippi
and modernized the music for his times, Meantooth Grin is doing the
same for their generation. With soulful fire and white hot
intensity, Meantooth carries the torch from the previous
generation of blues greats and moves the music into the future.
They take roots sounds and transform them into something that spans
the ages. Leaving a trail of blues lovers wanting more
wherever they go, Meantooth Grin has a large fan base, ranging in
age from 16 to 60+.
They draw
on the emotional truth of soul and the forcefulness of rock to bring
a distinctive dimension to their ground breaking sound. If you
like infectious grooves and abrasive, raw blues at an insane volume,
then Meantooth Grin is the band you're looking for!

Meantooth Grin is made
up of Brian miller on drums, Tom Jordan on guitar and vocals, and
Seth Heffner on bass. They have shared the stage with the likes of
Lonnie Brooks, Chris Duarte, Scott Holt, Bill Perry, and many more.
The group is known for their distinct overdriven, swampy type of
hill country influenced blues rock.
