David was diagnosed with Epilepsy on October 16, 2006. He
also has many other issues, resulting from the epilepsy. It
took ten years for his parents to finally receive this diagnosis.
Doctors had been treating the symptoms and not the cause, which was
seizures.
David almost lost his foot to a severe staph infection in the
Spring of 2006.
He struggles with school because his memory is poor. He has
been misunderstood by many; but through it all, he maintains a
gentle soul. He always strives to do his best and believes the
best about others. He's in special classes at school, where he can
learn at his own pace.
Because of his subtle seizures and the effects of his necessary
medications, David has difficulties with alertness, endurance,
speech, and consistency. He must modify his life to deal with
these challenges.
David receives speech therapy as well as occupational and
physical therapy. He wants to be a train engineer when he
grows up.
