In Dec 2000 Hosanna was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. She had a tumor the size of a large grapefruit in her abdomen. It was wrapped around a main artery to her heart and around her intestines, so she could not eat from Christmas Day until early April, 2001. She underwent chemo until the tumor's size was decreased enough that the doctors could operate. it was removed April 12, 2001. She suffered cardiac arrest and her brain was deprived of oxygen for several minutes, which caused severe brain damage.
