Submit Your Child

 
Hugs and Hope accepts applications for any sick child between the ages of 2 and 16 living within the United States.   Here's what you need to provide:

1) Application form completed and signed
2) Letter signed by doctor to verify illness
     Written on doctor's letterhead
3) Child's Bio  - 1 or 2 paragraphs
4)  Close up photo of your child alone
5)  Two email addresses
      which do NOT contain your last name
6)  Happy Mail Address where cards
      can be sent  - NOT your home address
7) Subscribe to our newsletter for parents
     by sending a blank email  here.
8)  Subscribe to our general newsletter also
      by sending a blank email here

Pictures: School pictures are best.  No full body shots or photos with others in a group, please. Email digital photos of your child when he/she is well and another photo of him/her while hospitalized or undergoing treatment.  Many children look totally different before and after treatment.  Two photos show how the illness has changed the child.

Mailing Address: For safety reasons, we refuse to post a child's home address on our site, so you will need to provide us with an alternate mailing address where "happy mail" can be sent. A post office box or the address of a friend or relative are suggested. Sometimes, churches or the parents' workplaces will allow their addresses to be used. This way, no one visiting the website will be able to determine exactly where a child lives.  Also, we do not post the last names, for this same reason.  So you can feel safe.   

If you mail us an incomplete registration package, or if you do not subscribe to BOTH our yahoo news groups,
your child's story will not be posted!

After submitting your application, it may take two months or longer for your child's story to be featured.   

After your child's story is featured on our site, you must send an update once a month, using the form here.

Contacting any staff member by email will not be considered an "official" update.  Remember, without a monthly "official" update posted directly on our site, your child's story will be removed from the site.  Emailing your parent pal or some other volunteer does NOT count as an official update.   

**NOTE**

After your child is accepted, the story will be featured on our web site for one month.  During that month, he/she should receive quite a bit of mail.  After their featured month, however, the quantity of mail will most likely drop off.  The story will remain on our site as long as the child is active in our group, but new children are on the featured page each month.
