***** FROM HIS MOM NOV 2006*****
Kody was born with a very rare seizure disorder called
Hemimegalencephaly. At one day old he started having uncontrollable
seizures and they continued to increase to hundreds a day. At the
age of 11 weeks old the seizures threatened his life and he had to
have a drastic surgery called a hemispherectomy. (which removes
portions of the brain and COMPLETELY disconnects the right side from
the left side, so they can no longer communicate with each other) .
He had to have an emergency shunt placed 3 months later. He has had
a total of 9 surgeries He does face at least 2 more surgeries, ear
surgery and surgery to remove hardware from his hips. He is working
very hard on walking and talking. He knows about 50 signs, and he
recognizes all 26 of his letters, and up to 20 in his numbers with a
little struggle. Despite his limitations he is a very happy
happy well adjusted little boy.
Kassi is his twin sister who loves him very much.
