Lauren was misdiagnosed with Cerebral Palsy when she was three years old. She was unable to maintain weight and had a G-tube inserted to ensure proper nutrition. Along with numerous upper respiratory illnesses, Lauren was also diagnosed with anorexia and depression. She experienced her first seizure in March 2001. A blood test revealed that Lauren also has Rett Syndrome, an illness which affects the body's ability to perform motor movements. She also has chronic sleep apnea and asthma. Lauren has been homebound from school since last November due to her low immune system.
