Matthew is a very smart little boy
who suffers not only from mitochondrial disease, but also has
glucose intolerance, Iris transillumination,
CIPO (Chronic Intestinal Pseudo Obstruction),
and severe failure to thrive syndrome. Though he has a great
appetite and eats a lot, he doesn't grow. He wears special
glasses to protect his eyes from light.
Matthew is always tired and prefers to sit
or lay down during the day but he will move more during physical
therapy and sometimes in preschool. He spends a lot of time on
the couch sleeping or watching TV and Disney movies. He also
enjoys playing with small toy figures and his puppy, Harry.
They're both pretty cute!
Here's what his mom has to say about him:
Matthew is a bright
4 year old who despite struggling with several medical
conditions, has a happy and positive attitude. He loves
to laugh and tell stories and he give the most wonderful
hugs in the world.
