Praise from Readers:
The author is funny in
spite of herself. She can't help it. Funny is just one of those
things Marsha Jordan happens to be. But her book, "Hugs, Hope, and
Peanut Butter" is not just another serving of warmed-up Erma Bombeck.
These essays are original, meat-and-potatoes entrées served up fresh and
piping hot (and piping funny), along with some of the most thoughtful
and spiritual side dishes to savor along with the laughs.
Over the years, I've written material for some of the best veteran
female standup comedians in the business. Alongside those women, Marsha
Jordan on paper matches up like a true heavyweight. (I don't think she'd
mind me using that word in this particular instance!) Order "Hugs, Hope,
and Peanut Butter" now. You can't start laughing soon enough.

Hugs, Hope and Peanut Butter will
stick to your heart! I would love to give this author a hug! Besides being a very funny woman,
her words bounce off these pages with a contagious sense of hope and
encouragement, offering readers a lighthearted look at the world around
them.
Marsha is no stranger to sickness, and therefore it’s no wonder that
she started an organization to help critically ill children. These special
young people illustrated the book, causing Marsha’s words to touch
readers in a more meaningful way.
Made up of a random collection of essays, this book covers a variety of
subjects. The author’s candid style of writing instantly endears her to
readers, inviting them to laugh along with her as she rides the roller
coaster of life. Marsha’s home life is a source of hilarity, while
her heart is filled to overflowing with compassion for those around her.
Being uniquely qualified to speak to those who are discouraged, the
author shares her past experiences and her hopes for the future. The pages
are bittersweet, as the drawings by the children serve as a reminder of
those whose health issues are shaded in uncertainty. Readers won’t
know if the tears on their cheeks come from laughing or crying.

Jest, Blessed, and Chocolate
Just when I thought it was safe to go back in the water, here
comes Marsha Jordan with Hugs, Hope, and Peanut Butter. I hate it
when other humorist are funnier than me.
I actually met this author via cyberspace BEFORE reading the book
and found that even her emails made me giggle. Then I read the
book ... I realized her mission and saw first-hand the wonderful
illustrations donated by the very children she is committed to
helping.
The stories are laced with just enough humor to lighten the
reader's load, yet true to ever being the humorist, Marsha leaves
us with a message to ponder. Some say they are lessons, I,
however, call them gifts.
To me the book was characterized by jestful anecdotes provoking
smiles and laughter, the drawings were my blessings, and getting
to know this author is almost ... as good as chocolate. I can only
hope she will stay out of the humor biz in the future...

Just what the doctor ordered. April 17, 2006
This book is for anyone who has ever been discouraged, disappointed or
just plain tired. This light-hearted book delivers a message of hope. It
is a collection of stories of normal everyday life events and mishaps,
seen from a humorous point of view. Each left me smiling and some left me
laughing out loud. Ms Jordan writes in an easy to read style and is honest
about her own shortcomings and struggles. The book is full of situations
that I'm sure we all can relate to.

"You'll soon be laughing out loud and won't want to put this book
down! Not only was I doubled over in laughter, especially when it
came to stories about her dog, Louie, but I found my own convictions
strengthened by her ability to tie the laughs in with Christian truth.
Marsha has a remarkable talent for splitting your sides with her comical
sketches of life and then wrapping you up in hope.
The book exists because Marsha took her own personal suffering and instead
of allowing it to make her bitter, she is reaching out to others and
making a REAL difference. That truth alone is mightily evident in the
book and terribly hard for the reader to miss.
Marsha helps readers find REDEMPTION in their suffering and she does it
with her ample God-given gift for mirth.
Marsha Jordan writes with purpose and conviction and an unfailing sense of
humor. Be prepared to come away with a great sense of hope and quite
possibly the same sense of joy and conviction that Jordan shares with
every story. A very timely book from a very gifted Christian writer."

"A must read! With wit and
biblical wisdom that few have mastered well, Marsha Jordan expresses the
reality of day-to-day struggles and joys with laugh-out-loud humor while
reminding us that God walks beside us through life's most difficult
circumstances. Her amazing attitude and exceptional experiences prove that
prayer and a laugh a day keep hope from fading
away."

"Jordan has written a fabulous
compilation of essays that will touch your soul with both laughter and
tears. By sharing her personal experiences, weaknesses, and
hard-learned wisdom with charming candor, Jordan will teach you how to
incorporate God’s message of hope and healing in your own life. Her
hilarious stories about her dog Louie and her "very male"
husband will keep you amused all the way to the end. This book is a
must-read for women who love to laugh and who believe in the power of hugs
and hope." ~ Vicky

"An enjoyable read! Author Marsha
Jordan uplifts your faith and lightens your day with her humorous stories
about family life. Moreover, the founder of the Hugs and Hope nonprofit
organization, which helps sick children and their families, has included
angel stories of how people help each other. Marsha reminds us that acts
of kindness aren't random, but fostered through good hearts and real
action. She provides wit instead of worry and reminds us that we are fine
just the way we are. She exemplifies being real and down-to-earth in the
stories, and refreshingly gives readers permission to be themselves."

children at the same time? It's possible with this book! Enjoy... and

"It left me wanting to read
more!" I am not one of those people who normally “laugh out
loud." While I do have a sense of humor, I usually don’t do the
belly laughs. But, every once in a while something comes along where I
can’t control myself. I found such an occasion while reading the essay
"If He Only Had a Brain."

It
is evident from her stories that the author is filled with joy.
“Hugs, Hope and Peanut Butter” is an enjoyable book whether it is read
jumping from essay to essay or straight through.
Nearly
all of Marsha’s essays are inspired from her personal experience, with
her husband, grandson and dog being the main co-stars. While her stories
are amusing enough to at least bring a smile and a chuckle, some of them
brought laughter loud enough to draw my family’s attention. Then, of
course, I’d have to share with them. I’d also have to go back and
re-read some of them to my daughter’s friends, who came to visit that
week. I think our absolute favorites were the essays that included the
advice about hiking in grizzly bear territory and the men who stumble
across what seems like a bottomless pit.
~ Amy B. Christian-mommies.com ~
"An amusing exposé of life at
fifty. The author chats us through her present life state, flab and all. .
. . She engages her audience in her personal accounts of her husband and
immediate surroundings with zest and humor. Though suffering from partial
loss of eyesight, the author clearly never feels sorry for herself, and is
able to reach out to others, including those whom she meets online.
Her writing is extremely readable and the
Christian messages are highly accessible. She clearly has first-hand
knowledge of the Bible, and her easy familiarity with the text has enabled
her to choose verses that are most appropriate for the messages that she
wishes to share. Her involvement in her ministry and her contact with
thousands of people is shared from a standpoint that unconsciously should
bring out the best in any reader. . . . Dog-loving Christians will
appreciate this work. . . . The essays could make comforting and amusing
reading for those who wish not to read too demanding a
text."
