Steven was HIV positive since he was born. His mom adopted
him knowing that he was sick. He has now developed AIDS. Due to
his decreasing CD4 count, he is getting sicker and doctors have
stopped all his medications. They've given him approximately 12 months
to live, but that could change at any moment, if he catches a cold
or some other bug. Because he has no immunity, chicken
pox or pneumonia could be fatal.
For his own protection, he may need to be homeschooled in the Fall,
to avoid contact with other kids who may have germs.
Steven's little sister, Shantel, has several drawings in our new
book, Hugs, Hope, and
Peanut Butter.
