Thomas was adopted by his parents when he was three weeks old. He has three grown brothers.

Thomas has had many health problems and is hospitalized often with pneumonia and asthma. He has a muscle disease which causes respiratory muscle weakness. Thomas tires easily and cannot run, jump, or ride a bike. (He has a wheelchair.) Because he gets sick so easily when he's around other children, Thomas is homebound and doesn't go to school. He could use lots of happy mail.
